SF 49ers: 5 best players over the first half of the season
No. 4: SF 49ers TE George Kittle
While this isn’t necessarily a ranking of these top players, it still feels strange to list SF 49ers tight end George Kittle this low on any list.
That said, the thought behind Kittle coming in so soon is twofold.
First, Kittle has only played in six of the team’s nine games, missing the two games at MetLife in Weeks 2 and 3 after a knee sprain suffered in the Week 1 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Yet in those games he has played, Kittle still managed 37 catches on 49 targets for 474 yards and two touchdowns.
Second, Kittle looks like he’ll likely miss the rest of the season with a broken bone in his foot, which means that has good has he has been during his short run in 2020, he unfortunately won’t be around to impact the rest of the season.
But Kittle was still one of the best players on the SF 49ers in 2020 and still leads the team in receiving yards through this point in the year.
He’ll be missed during the rest of the year without a doubt, as he’d be a key to backup quarterback Nick Mullens having success with starter Jimmy Garoppolo also likely out for the rest of the year.
