Takeaway No. 4: Fred Warner is the best linebacker in the NFL

It’s no longer hyperbole. Third-year linebacker Fred Warner is the best at his position in the NFL right now.

Perhaps Pro Football Focus doesn’t think so, as they have Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Myles Jack ranked No. 1 with an 88.6 overall grade, whereas Warner is right behind him at No. 2 with a grade of 83.6. But Warner has also accomplished his feat with over 100 more snaps than Jack, showing why he’s such an integral part of the SF 49ers defense.

To no one’s surprise, Warner was all over the place in Week 7 and led the team with seven tackles, also adding an interception. And it wasn’t shocking to hear CBS Sports’ color commentator, Tony Romo, regularly referring to Warner as the game’s best linebacker:

It was great to see Warner get the attention he deserves.

And if Warner isn’t awarded first-team All-Pro honors once the season is done, the accolade might as well be useless.
