No. 2: George Kittle seems to own the LA Rams

Some players, for whatever the reasons, just seem to perform better against certain squads. An example SF 49ers fans would rather not think about is how Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has somehow been a thorn in the Niners’ collective side over his Hall of Fame career.

But San Francisco has one of its own players who can be a thorn for the Rams: tight end George Kittle.

Kittle, of course, set the single-season receiving-yard record for tight ends against Los Angeles back in 2018. In addition to that record-setting day, Kittle has put up some impressive splits against the 49ers’ NFC West rivals ever since 2017.

Facing the Rams six times over his career sure has helped inflate the stats. Yet the numbers remain impressive: 32 receptions for 537 yards and three touchdowns — by far the most when compared to any other team.

If you want to get away from the sheer volume, Kittle has averaged 89.5 receiving yards per contest against Los Angeles during his career, which is the most out of any team he’s faced off against at least three times.

Should San Francisco want to win (it does), Kittle needs to be a major focal point of the offense.

Because it’s worked in the past with great results.
