MIKE: Fred Warner

WILL: Kwon Alexander

SAM: Dre Greenlaw

The SF 49ers suffered a brief scare in Week 2 when second-year linebacker Dre Greenlaw suffered an injury on a special teams play late in the second half.

Greenlaw was able to return, however, alleviating this worry. As such, there isn’t likely to be many changes to the Niners’ linebacking corps heading into their game against the Giants. There could be, however, a change between the backers, possibly moving Greenlaw into a more featured role at the weak-side (WILL) spot over Kwon Alexander, whose presence this season hasn’t been as electrifying as it was for the first half of 2019.

Alexander finished the game with three tackles, including one for a loss, but there were misses, too.

That’s something Greenlaw hasn’t traditionally struggled with, lending to the idea he should be on the field more than Alexander in coming weeks.

Still, this unit now emerges as the deepest for San Francisco after all those losses on the defensive line.
