No. 2: Breaking the SF 49ers’ all-time rushing record

A truly pivotal moment in Frank Gore’s career, and for the Niners franchise as a whole, came when Gore broke the all-time 49ers rushing record, proving he was truly the best running back the franchise has ever been graced with.

His ability to burst through holes and bulldoze opposing defenders are second to none. He is often considered as one of the best pure rushers of all time, which is why he is so high on the NFL’s all-time rushing list as well. His consistency was of an elite level, as he rushed for over 1,000 yards for all but two of his seasons with San Francisco.

He became the SF 49ers’ all-time rushing leader during the 2011 season when he reached a career rushing total of 8,670 yards, passing 49ers legendary running back, Joe “The Jet” Perry.

Gore finished his tenure with San Francisco with a final rushing tally of 11,073 yards.

It’s just too bad Gore didn’t have the opportunity to play behind a more competent offensive line during his tenure in the Bay Area, or else who knows what could have been.
