No. 9: Glenn Love is a Grey Cup champion and has all the tangibles to be a dominant player for the SF 49ers

If the 49ers want a guy who is quick to the ball, has the tremendous cover ability, and has a championship under his belt, look no further than Montreal Alouettes free-agent linebacker Glenn Love.

Love, 31, spent most of his career in Calgary but set his career-high in tackles with Montreal. He also had stops in Saskatchewan and began his career with the B.C. Lions.

Love has an incredible sense of where the ball carrier is going to be and meets him at the gap. He knows his role in the defense and rarely gets caught slipping up. In the open field pass protection, he keeps his eyes on the quarterback while also having the ability to know where the receiver is without needing to look.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders Luc Mullinder broke down more of Love’s abilities here.

Love has 70 games on his resume with 95 defensive tackles and 93 special teams tackles. The only downsides to him would be his age and not playing a full season over his eight-year career.

He could still improve an NFL roster with the added depth, and the 49ers should be interested in his services.
