49ers Wide Receiver Target No. 2: Quincy Enunwa

If injuries are the primary concern for Kyle Shanahan, perhaps it’s best for the Niners to cross off former New York Jets wide receiver Quincy Enunwa from the list.

Enunwa, 28 years old, has been banged up for the better part of his six-year career in New York, and he’s boasted a full 16-game season just once in his career back in 2016 when he managed a career-best 857 yards and four touchdowns.

Those efforts came amid a paltry Jets offense, so one might figure a player like Enunwa could contribute much more given the context of what San Francisco has to offer. Plus, after missing all but one game in 2019, one could figure Enunwa would come on the cheap, perhaps a one-year “prove it” deal at the veteran’s minimum.

More intriguing is Enunwa’s size. At 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, Enunwa isn’t a finesse receiver and has the strength to win some of those key one-on-one matchups against bigger defensive backs.

Again, the injury history is a concern. And Enunwa would be buried on the depth chart even if he made the 49ers roster, assuming he’d be signed. But the veteran’s presence and prior success, albeit in limited numbers, could go a long way towards assisting some of the Niners’ other receiving targets.
