No. 3: 49ers Offensive Tackle Trent Williams

The 49ers are loaded up with pass-rushers, which figures to create some noteworthy one-on-one and full 11-on-11 contests worth watching.

Particularly at the line of scrimmage.

Yet the Niners’ best pass blocker, veteran left tackle Trent Williams, could easily be the name to watch when it comes to rebuffing San Francisco’s elite crop of edge rushers during camp. Williams, a seven-time Pro Bowler, has enjoyed a Pro Football Focus pass-blocking grade of at least 80.0 every year since 2012. Over his storied career, Williams has allowed only 36 sacks.

And 11 of those came during his rookie season back in 2010.

Needless to say, one might expect Williams — fresh off a full year away from football — to come back with vigor, negating some of the best pass-rushing efforts from his new 49ers teammates.

As long as Williams shuts down his practice opponents with ease, Kyle Shanahan and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo should feel pretty good about the weakside protection this upcoming season.
