The Niners didn’t bring aboard any specialists during or after the 2020 NFL Draft, so the special teams battery of long-snapper Kyle Nelson, punter Mitch Wishnowsky and kicker Robbie Gould will remain unchanged.

There isn’t exactly any reason to guard against injury either, since there’s no preseason.

San Francisco didn’t have continuity at the start of 2019, thanks to Nelson’s elongated 10-game suspension stemming from 2018, resulting in a rotating door of long-snappers and an inconsistent effort from Gould at the beginning of the year.

That’s gone, though, so the 49ers now can hope this group will be much more consistent like it was over the majority of 2018.

As far as the return game, however, that’s quite an open-ended question.
