49ers Opponent No. 3: Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

All told, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers hasn’t exactly had a ton of success against the team for which he grew up rooting.

Especially in the playoffs, as the Niners have now eliminated Rodgers and his Packers three times from the postseason during his otherwise Hall of Fame career.

Still, Rodgers’ failures against San Francisco in the postseason doesn’t change the likelihood the 49ers’ Week 9 home bout against Green Bay won’t come with difficulties. Especially after the Packers selected rookie quarterback Jordan Love in Round 1 of the NFL Draft this year to serve as Rodgers’ heir apparent.

That’ll light a fire under Rodgers, who’ll look to put behind what was otherwise a relatively so-so year for him in 2019.

And by so-so, we mean yet another Pro Bowl effort with over 4,000 yards passing with 26 touchdowns against four interceptions. That’s so-so for Rodgers, at least in the regular season.

The 49ers dominated Rodgers and the Packers during the regular season last year, though, so that’s the hope again in 2020.

Still, Rodgers is on here because, well… he’s Rodgers.
