No. 2: Who plays No. 2 cornerback for 49ers?
One could make the argument San Francisco’s cornerback crop is the biggest question mark the team has entering 2020. And if not the entire roster, certainly on the defensive side of the ball.
Few would question the No. 1 boundary option, Richard Sherman, and none would question who the Niners are going to field at nickel back, K’Waun Williams.
Instead, it’s the No. 2 boundary cornerback that’s in question here.
The initial guess would be Emmanuel Moseley getting the start. After all, the 49ers were comfortable enough starting him for the vast majority of the playoffs and into the Super Bowl after he took over starting duties from the embattled Ahkello Witherspoon.
Witherspoon, who is entering a contract year, is going to be under the microscope. Having lost his starting role a number of times already, training camp could be the last chance he gets to reseize it in the long run.
One should anticipate just how much and how well Witherspoon competes with Moseley in camp and who’s winning the competition outright.
It’ll be fun to watch.
