49ers Trade Partner No. 3: Jacksonville Jaguars

He might have survived the 2020 NFL Draft, but Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette appears to be on borrowed time.

The Jaguars are going through what appears to be a multiyear rebuild, and it’s anyone’s guess what Fournette’s future role will be in that span.

Especially considering he’s entering year four of his rookie deal and hasn’t been offered his fifth-year option.

Behind Fournette, Jacksonville has some likable options in running backs Ryquell Armstead and Devine Ozigbo. But neither has made a truly notable impact at the pro level and have a combined 135 rush yards between them from 2019 with neither of them rushing for more than 3.1 yards per attempt.

The 49ers could send off an experienced veteran like Raheem Mostert to the Jags, giving them a versatile speed threat, who could either serve as a complementary back to Fournette or as an eventual replacement on a considerably cheaper deal.
