No. 4: 49ers defensive line about to get even better?

Is it possible for the 49ers defensive line to get any better?

Hopefully, it is as the Niners got bigger and younger at defensive tackle with the selection of Javon Kinlaw with the 14th pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Kinlaw was who the 49ers wanted all along, with general manager John Lynch stating that the 49ers wanted to get bigger at defensive tackle. Lynch said they wanted to do this to combat the bigger guards the 49ers face, in particular the Seattle Seahawks.

Yes, the 49ers will need to replace the number of snaps now-Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner played. However, Kinlaw played almost every defensive snap when South Carolina played Georgia. Georgia had 95 snaps on offense in that game, and the coaching staff tried to take Kinlaw out of the game and give him some rest, but he didn’t listen and went straight back out onto the pitch.

Kinlaw will show why the 49ers wanted him so badly, especially with other players like D.J. Jones, Nick Bosa, Arik Armstead and EDGE Dee Ford getting all the attention from the offensive line, Kinlaw will most likely see little to no double teams.

He will give the 49ers offensive line fits in training camp.

With the return of Jones, as well as the addition of Kinlaw, the interior of the defensive line will be bigger and better during training camp with Kinlaw being the new star of the show.
