2020 NFL Draft: 49ers vs. Cardinals

The NFL Draft is always a highlight for the offseason. This year was no exception. The 49ers and Cardinals both had very solid drafts.

The 49ers, with their first pick in the draft, would end up drafting Javon Kinlaw who is expected to replace DeForest Buckner. The speed in how the team was able to replace Buckner shows great awareness. The Niners would also trade up into the first round and pick up Arizona State wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who will end up replacing veteran wideout Emmanuel Sanders whom the Niners lost to the New Orleans Saints in free agency.

Both of these players are expected to come in and play at a high level, but it’s important to remember they are rookies. It may take them both a while to get their footing. This is especially true with the current pandemic hindering teams’ offseason activities.

The Cardinals would select the versatile linebacker, Isaiah Simmons, from Clemson. Simmons is highly talented and can play all over the field. He will be extremely useful on the Arizona defense, and his matchups against 49ers tight end George Kittle will be interesting to watch. This was honestly a really fantastic pickup by the Cardinals as Simmions has so much versatility and talent that can only go up.

Both teams made some interesting picks in the later rounds of the draft. They both did a great job of finding talent in the latter parts, although the 49ers did a slightly better job of replacing key pieces they lost in the offseason.

Overall, both of these teams did an excellent job in the offseason. They made moves to improve both of their teams and both of these teams got better. Both teams even out on the draft, and one should be looking forward to seeing how these young players pan out for both teams.
