49ers Running Back Raheem Mostert

Running back Raheem Mostert checks in at No. 10 on the list after his breakout season in 2019. He looks to head into next season as the first option out of the crowded running back room that also includes Tevin Coleman, Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson, not to mention potential up-and-coming undrafted free agents like JaMycal Hasty and Salvon Ahmed.

But given the impact Mostert had during the latter part of the season, it stands to reason he’ll have an outside shot of being the No. 1 option heading into 2020.

Mostert, a former undrafted player himself, finished the season with 772 yards on 137 carries, good for 5.6 yards per carry. But he really came alive in the playoffs, where he rushed for 336 yards on 53 carries with five total touchdowns, including 220 yards in the NFC Championship game against the Green Bay Packers.

There will be a lot of competition for carries on next year’s team, but Mostert’s ending to 2019 puts him in the pole position to be the de facto starter at the position.

If there’s anything we know about Kyle Shanahan, it’s that he tends to go with the hot hand, especially at running back.

So if Mostert can show that last season wasn’t a flash in the pan, he should prove to be a vital part of the 49ers offense in 2020, allowing him to slip into the top 10 in the player power rankings.
