No. 2: 49ers’ Throwback Uniforms in the Mid 1990s (1994, 1996-1997, 2018-Present)

This was my wife’s favorite version of the 49ers’ all-time uniforms, so I’ll be kind and give it the No. 2 spot on this list.

Heck, the all-white alternate uniforms are most of your favorites, too. And it wouldn’t be a crime to bring back the red home tops as well.

In 1994, a lot of NFL teams were permitted to wear throwback games throughout the season, and the Niners took advantage of their initial look and rode those classic-looking jerseys all the way to victory in Super Bowl XXIX.

Both the home and road jerseys featured a deeper red than the traditional look, yet the biggest notable difference was the switch from gold pants to white. The 1996 version, after a revert back to the previous uniform in 1995, featured a drop-shadow effect on the numbers, which would stay put, along with the deeper red, into the late 2000s.

Honoring San Francisco’s past was a great way to go, and the Niners only added to their storied history while donning this jersey.

They did again with that memorable Week 17 win over the Seattle Seahawks in 2019, too.
