5 former 49ers Kyle Shanahan would love to have on 2020 roster

No. 5: 49ers Cornerback Eric Wright
The 2020 Niners have some cornerback wonders heading into this season, namely the long-term status of Richard Sherman and Ahkello Witherspoon.
Opposite Sherman, one can wonder if an upgrade would be needed anyway. Granted, Emmanuel Moseley enjoyed himself a solid year as an impromptu starter in 2019. Yet his gaffe in Super Bowl LIV ultimately cost San Francisco the best shot at final victory.
Forgetting that for a moment, one could at least wonder if such a play would have happened if former 49ers cornerback Eric Wright was patrolling the secondary alongside Sherman. While Wright might not have the same level of accolades Sherman has, the 10-year pro did enjoy two Pro Bowl seasons and one nomination as a first-team All-Pro back in 1985.
And while cornerback Jimmy Johnson, the Hall of Famer, is viewed as San Francisco’s best cornerback of all time, there’s another argument suggesting Wright is No. 2 on that list.
Plus, to make this an even better fit, Wright’s 6-foot-1, 183-pound frame would be an ideal physical fit for the kind of boundary corners the Niners play now.
Yeah, Wright would fit right in… pun intended.
