3 free-agent cornerbacks who could still help out 49ers in 2020

49ers Free-Agent Target No. 1: Aqib Talib
If the Niners want to add another cornerback with plenty of name recognition, even if he’s beyond the stage of playing at a perennial Pro Bowl level, they could do worse than go after veteran corner Aqib Talib.

Talib remains unsigned after a two-year stint with both the Los Angeles Rams and briefly the Miami Dolphins, not playing for the latter after being traded while on injured reserve.
It’s anyone’s guess whether or not Talib would still have much to offer. But because of this, and the fact he’s 34 years old, it’s reasonable to assume the five-time Pro Bowler would be willing to sign some sort of veteran-minimum “prove it” contract to see if there’s anything worthy of value to some team out there.
Talib’s on-field accolades and playoff pedigree need no introduction, of course. The only question is how much he’d have to offer at this stage in his career.
Yet San Francisco could afford to take a shot, giving him a chance to at least compete in training camp with the more modest expectation of him securing a depth position and even a dark-horse chance of starting alongside Richard Sherman, should Talib impress that much.
