No. 10: Is there anything better than Joe Staley taking over a basketball team Twitter account? The answer is no.
One of the best things about having so many teams in the Bay Area is lots of chances for each organization to support each other. Within the San Francisco region, they have the 49ers, Golden State Warriors, San Jose Sharks, San Jose Earthquakes, San Francisco Giants and the Oakland Athletics. For the most part, they all get along.
Back in 2014, just before the Warriors went on their historic championship run, Joe Staley had the opportunity to take over their Twitter account. Listen, I’m not saying Staley was the reason Golden State dominated the NBA from the start of 2014 to the end of 2019, but he did this takeover before the team won three championships. Take it as you will.
How much basketball knowledge does an NFL Pro Bowl offensive tackle know? You would think he’d know a bit since football players are quite intelligent. But in this video the Warriors shared from January 2014, Staley admitted he doesn’t know much about the sport:

One of the highlights of the video was when he was picking his 49ers starting five. He gave some guys credit and others like former tight end Vernon Davis, he showed no mercy.
We have to think he’ll take over the Niners Twitter account in the future, he’s pretty good at it!
