B. . . . NEW YORK JETS

Draft needs

The New York Jets are in the best shape to battle the Bills for the suddenly open AFC East. They needed weapons and blocking for quarterback Sam Darnold, while finding some upgrades at EDGE and cornerback on defense.

2020 NFL Draft class

  • No. 11: Mekhi Becton, Offensive Tackle, Louisville
  • No. 59: Denzel Mims, Wide Receiver, Baylor
  • No. 68: Ashtyn Davis, Safety, California
  • No. 79: Jabari Zuniga, EDGE, Florida
  • No. 120: Lamical Perine, Running Back, Florida
  • No. 125: James Morgan, Quarterback, FIU
  • No. 129: Cameron Clark, Guard, Charlotte
  • No. 158: Bryce Hall, Cornerback, Virginia
  • No. 191: Braden Mann, Punter, Texas A&M

Draft review

I liked how the Jets found some players to fill their needs, but whether or not Mekhi Becton, a raw tackle with weight problems, was preferable over the more solid Tristan Wirfs. It’s a big risk.

Denzel Mims was a steal, as was Jabari Zuniga and Bryce Hall. The rest are all at least solid prospects.

I think the class was fine in all, Becton will be the difference in if this is a good class or a great one, however.
