Offensive Tackle. Tigers . Prince Tega Wanogho. 2. player. 842.

Despite making a major move for Trent Williams, the 49ers still used their fifth-round NFL Draft pick to grab Colton McKivitz, who’ll likely bump inside to guard at the pro level.

That wasn’t a bad pick, per se, as offensive line depth is never a bad idea to bolster.

In terms of value, though, one has to wonder if San Francisco would have been better served to go with Auburn offensive tackle Prince Tega Wanogho who eventually went to the Philadelphia Eagles at the final selection in Round 6.

Tega Wanogho, for starters, had a third- or fourth-round draft grade assigned by NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein, so the value would have been there. And despite Tega Wanogho’s large 6-foot-5, 308-pound frame, he moves pretty well and has some notable agility.

This probably would have been a good insurance move for the Niners, especially considering Williams is entering a contract year and it’s anyone’s guess whether or not the team can re-sign him in 2021.

While he’ll take some finessing, Tega Wanogho appears to have what it takes to develop into a quality starter in a short amount of time.

McKivitz doesn’t project to do that, at least not on the outside.
