No. 3: Jimmy Garoppolo and Jeff Wilson Beat the Cardinals in Week 11

The 49ers went through some challenging moments in the middle of 2019, which included two matchups against their NFC West rivals, the Arizona Cardinals, over a three-week span.

Arizona proved to be a tough out twice, and such was the case in Week 10 at Levi’s Stadium when the Cardinals got out to a 16-0 lead en route to what was looking like a total upset.

But Jimmy Garoppolo hit tight end Ross Dwelley twice for touchdowns to close the gap and eventually take a one-point lead, only to see Arizona go ahead on a field goal in the third quarter. Yet Garoppolo found wide receiver Kendrick Bourne for a 4-yard touchdown to reclaim the lead in the fourth quarter, although that didn’t stand for long.

Cardinals rookie quarterback Kyler Murray‘s 22-yard touchdown scramble appeared to give Arizona an inside lane for the win.

Until Garoppolo found backup running back Jeff Wilson for a game-winning 25-yard touchdown pass.

Keep in mind, Garoppolo executed his four-touchdown, 424-yard performance without his top receiving weapon, tight end George Kittle, who was out with both ribs and ankle injuries during the game.

And considering this was an exceptional fourth-quarter comeback against a feisty opponent, watching Garoppolo literally pick the team up and put it on his shoulders is pretty exceptional.
