San Francisco 49ers: 3 players who could be traded at 2020 NFL Draft
By Peter Panacy
No. 1: Running Back Matt Breida
It might have been a bit surprising the 49ers applied a second-round restricted free-agent tender on running back Matt Breida instead of the low-round tenure, especially considering his massive drop off in use late in 2019 and into the playoffs.
Breida’s surprising absence from Kyle Shanahan’s game plan didn’t suggest the former undrafted free agent would get that kind of tender, but he did.

Still, that doesn’t guarantee the Niners hold onto the running back long term.
The Athletic’s Matt Barrows speculated on Breida’s future with KNBR 680’s Tom Tolbert and Larry Krueger (h/t 49ers Webzone) in late March and had some interesting points to add:
"I don’t know what they would get for [Breida]. It might not be a second-rounder, and you can assume it wouldn’t be because that team would just sign him away and then give the 49ers a second-rounder, if that were the case. But I think the 49ers would take less than that for him — a third- or fourth-rounder, perhaps."
Yet Barrows points out there’s definitely smoke, which indicates fire behind any would-be rumors the 49ers are at least considering shopping Breida.
And it makes sense, given the overcrowded running back room San Francisco currently has, which includes Tevin Coleman, Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson and the soon-to-return-from-injury runner, Jerick McKinnon.
One thing is certain: Breida is still the league’s fastest player over the last two years, and that’ll command at least some trade value.
It’ll also be interesting to watch whether or not the Niners try capitalizing on it during the NFL Draft, which kicks off April 23.
