2020 NFL Draft: 32-pick Round 1 mock with 49ers selecting twice
By Peter Panacy
Talk about a steal for the Green Bay Packers.
The past coupe of seasons have shown quarterback Aaron Rodgers still needs some pass-catching help as he enters what looks to be the final chapters of his storied NFL career. And with Green Bay in win-now mode, it’s time to take advantage of an awfully deep NFL Draft class at wide receiver.
Yes, the Packers brought in wide receiver Devin Funchess, who is coming off an injury-plagued 2019 campaign. But it’s hard to see Funchess as an impact player. And if Rodgers wants to get some dynamic options to pair with his No. 1 receiver, Davante Adams, a Round 1 target should be in the cards.
Luckily, Clemson wideout Tee Higgins has fallen all the way to No. 30.
Some may view Higgins as squarely in that second tier of wide receiver draft prospects who could go in the teens, at least by the early 20s in Round 1. His non-efforts at the NFL Combine might have dropped his stock a bit, but that’s fine.
Higgins has all the makings of an impact player and should thrive with Rodgers throwing him the ball.
