When you think you’ve got enough pass-rushers, add another.

The 49ers don’t have to worry too much about their elite edge rushers, Nick Bosa and Dee Ford. Arik Armstead fits that mold, too.

But there’s always a need for supplementary depth, especially in specific pass-rush situations.

At 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, Utah State EDGE Tipa Galeai is a bit too lean to be an every-down pass-rusher. He has some explosiveness, bend and speed around the edge, which is nice. These traits were evident enough over his last two seasons with the Aggies after being dismissed from TCU in 2018.

Speaking of that, there are some red flags there. But Galeai’s time since has been solid, and the idea here would be relying on his hot motor to provide some adequate depth and rotational ability.

Galeai would need to add functional strength to see more on-field time. But for a Round 7 flier, the Niners could do worse.
