CeeDee Lamb. 13. player. 815. . Wide Receiver. Sooners

Using our trusty Fanspeak mock-draft tool, it’s unfortunate Alabama wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III went off the boards just before the 49ers’ first selection.

Yet the consolation prize isn’t bad at all, Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

The 6-foot-2, 198-pound target averaged an astonishing 21.4 yards per reception last year with the Sooners, amassing an impressive 1,327-yard campaign with 14 touchdowns.

Lamb didn’t blow anyone away with his straight-line speed at the NFL Combine, but he didn’t have to. Lamb’s explosiveness and ability to create yards after the catch speak directly to what head coach Kyle Shanahan wants in his offensive system.

Simply put, Lamb is a touchdown threat anytime he gets the ball in his hands.

Right now, the Niners have essentially two proven wide receiver targets: Deebo Samuel and Kendrick Bourne, the latter being a tendered restricted-free agent. Losing Emmanuel Sanders puts an even greater emphasis on San Francisco’s shortage for a true No. 1 threat, which is what Lamb is projected to be at the NFL level.
