San Francisco 49ers: Round 1 big board for the 2020 NFL Draft
By Peter Panacy
The 49ers already met with former TCU wide receiver Jalen Reagor at the NFL Combine, so it makes sense he could be high on the team’s radar heading towards the draft.
San Francisco has needs here, of course, particularly if veteran wideout Emmanuel Sanders leaves in free agency. Fellow wide receiver Kendrick Bourne is a restricted free agent. And while he’s probably going to return, only Bourne and second-year pro Deebo Samuel remain as the bona fide established commodities for head coach Kyle Shanahan’s wide receiver corps.
So it makes sense, too, the Niners would go wide receiver first in the NFL Draft despite it being a deep class.
Reagor, 5-foot-11 and 206 pounds, still doesn’t check off the size need San Francisco has at the position. But that’s never been a preference for Shanahan’s wide receivers anyway. Instead, Reagor won at the college level with top speed and separation skills.
Granted, Reagor didn’t do himself too many favors at the combine, running a relatively pedestrian 4.47 40-yard time, although an impressive 42-inch vertical leap prevented him from hindering his draft stock any further.
Yet these results could ultimately mean Reagor stays in that range of being a fringe first-round pick, going right around where the 49ers are currently poised to select.
