. Wide Receiver. Sooners . CeeDee Lamb. 1. player. 815

And finally, No. 1 on the list of best wide receivers in the 2020 draft class is CeeDee Lamb from the University of Oklahoma. Most prospect rankings have either Lamb or Jerry Jeudy as No. 1, with the other coming in at second. I don’t claim to know which one is the superior receiver. Both are uber-talented.

However, Lamb is the better fit for the 49ers.

Lamb is similar in size to Jeudy, at 6-foot-2 and 191 pounds. Lamb had an incredible junior season this past year, finishing with 62 receptions for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns. He averaged 21.4 yards per reception.

The numbers don’t do Lamb justice. Lamb is truly an elite athlete, capable of making incredible catches. But what makes Lamb the perfect fit for San Francisco is his elusiveness after the catch. If you watch the highlight video below, you’ll see what I’m talking about. He is able to consistently make defenders miss, an ability the 49ers took advantage of in Deebo Samuel this past season.

Lamb has the elusiveness to be a runner out of the backfield and be utilized in trick plays the way Samuel was last season. Given how creatively Kyle Shanahan likes to use his receivers, it is incredible to think about how he could use a player like Lamb.

So, Lamb has all of the abilities to be an elite NFL No. 1 receiver and has the versatility and elusiveness to be used creatively in the Niners’ offense.

For those reasons, he is the best option for the 49ers at wide receiver this year.

So, the Niners have three options that would be good fits and will likely be available with the Niners’ current draft capital: Michael Pittman, Tee Higgins and Laviska Shenault. Then they have two players who would be incredible, elite receivers, and great fits in the offense, but that they would likely have to make some trades to attain: Jeudy and Lamb.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens on April 23, but sound off in the comments who you think the Niners should target in this stacked wide receiver draft!
