No. 1: Running Away From The Run Game

The 49ers ran the ball only 20 times in the Super Bowl, considering they ran the ball 38 times in the NFC Championship game against the Green Bay Packers, which was the main factor for how they got to the big dance in the first place.

There were a few times running back Raheem Mostert only got a couple of yards against the Chiefs, although he was still able to break through a few times to get about 7 to 8 yards a rush.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan suddenly went away from the running game and decided to use Jimmy Garoppolo instead, which didn’t work at times.

There was no reason to stay away from the running game when that was the Niners’ “bread and butter,” which helped them get to the Super Bowl, and also stalled the play-action plays.

Mostert was underutilized in the game, and he should have gotten more touches. The damage he did against the Packers could have been the same against the Chiefs considering the run is the defense biggest weakness.
