Defensive End Ronald Blair

The choices the 49ers have are starting to get more difficult now.

Defensive end Ronald Blair was a key piece of San Francisco’s defensive line rotation in 2019, ultimately falling victim to an ACL tear after performing an acrobatic sack on Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

At least Blair ended his campaign on a good play.

Blair has regularly been a solid depth piece over his career, which could up his asking price significantly more than the other D-linemen mentioned on this list so far. After all, it’s hard to overlook his 13.5 sacks he’s posted over his four-year career, and one could make the argument the Niners D-line rotation took a major hit once Blair went down.

This will be tough for San Francisco, but the hunch would be the 49ers try everything to retain Blair to ensure some rotational pass-rushing prowess this upcoming season.

Especially if Blair’s ACL tear ultimately drives his asking price down.

Prediction: Re-signed
