East-West Shrine game: 5 2020 NFL Draft prospects 49ers could target
No. 1: Cameron Clark, Guard, Charlotte
An offensive tackle at Charlotte, Cameron Clark will have to move inside for the professional ranks. That isn’t a bad thing, however, as he has some intrigue as a player whom teams could take on as a project with upside.
Clark impressed during the Shrine practices and earned interviews, which scouts tend to view as more important than the game itself (scouts usually leave before the game is actually played). He generated a significant amount of attention in interviews with teams.
Clark needs to add to his frame for the pros, but his performances both at Charlotte and during practices for the Shrine Bowl have made him draftable now as a sixth or seventh-rounder.
The 49ers are a bit thin in the interior offensive line, often relying on using Daniel Brunskill as a plug-and-play player wherever there’s a gap. As such, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them use one or more picks on the offensive line.
Clark has done a lot to improve his stock, and he could be an intriguing prospect for the 49ers’ final pick.
