No. 7: K’Waun Williams

On the back of an improved defensive line, K’Waun Williams has blossomed from a decent slot cornerback to one of the best in the NFL.

Williams had 51 tackles, four quarterback hits, a sack, four forced fumbles and two interceptions for the year.

More impressive, however, is his coverage.

Williams is ranked 14th on Pro Football Focus’ list of top cornerbacks, and the second highest to be a true slot cornerback. He’s allowed only 8.1 yards per reception for the season, which is the second best for cornerbacks in the NFL.

Williams is a vastly underrated reason as to why the Niners defense has been much improved this season. His ability in the slot takes away a lot of short passes from opposing quarterbacks, and that ability will be much needed in the playoffs.
