No. 8: DeForest Buckner

A model of consistency, one might be misled by the stats being less than what they were last season. But that’s just a result of more weapons on the defensive line for San Francisco.

The truth is, defensive tackle DeForest Buckner is as good as ever.

Buckner had 61 tackles (33 solo), 7.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and recovered four of his own (one for a touchdown). His nine tackles for loss were well down on his mammoth 17 from last season, but it’s still the most he’s had in his career otherwise.

Buckner will be in line for a big contract extension this year, as he continues to be one of the big weapons on a loaded 49ers defensive line.

One can only expect more great things to come from Buckner.
