No. 15: The Jimmy Garoppolo era begins

Has there ever been a more-celebrated 24-13 loss in NFL history?

When traded to the 49ers just before the 2017 NFL trade deadline, the plan for Jimmy Garoppolo was to bring him along slowly and not rush him in right away in a sensible decision. However, sometimes the plan has to change, and Garoppolo was pressed into service late in a home game against the Seattle Seahawks.

The 49ers were down 24-6 with only a minute to go, and there was no danger of a comeback. But Garoppolo used his few plays to throw a touchdown as time expired:

Garoppolo was installed as the starter afterwards, and has been the franchise quarterback for the 49ers since then.
