No. 19: Kyle Williams fumbles in overtime in the 2012 NFC Championship

For the 49ers, important fumbles in NFC Championship games against the New York Giants just seem to be an unfortunate trend for the team.

Unfortunately, punt returner Kyle Williams became part of that trend in 2012 in the worst possible time:

It hurts to watch again.

Tied at 17-17 in overtime, Williams fielded the ball and almost immediately fumbled it at the first defender. The Giants recovered and then won the game to progress to the Super Bowl.

Williams never recovered from that point and flamed out of the NFL. This would have been higher if the 49ers had never gotten to the Super Bowl afterwards, but it still hurts to see what could have been.
