No. 13: Seahawks Celebrate Thanksgiving at Levi’s Stadium

In 2014, the wheels were starting to come apart for the Jim Harbaugh-era 49ers, and a very big chunk of that took place in Week 13 in a prime-time Thursday Night Football Thanksgiving matchup against the Niners’ top division rivals, the Seattle Seahawks.

Mere months removed from their memorable 2014 NFC Championship game matchup, San Francisco was completely outclassed this time around, as the Seahawks would go on to dominate Harbaugh’s squad 19-3.

That prompted CEO Jed York to issue his infamous tweet, which indicated the inevitable end of Harbaugh’s tenure:

To make it worse, NBC’s broadcast crew held a feast on the 49ers logo at midfield, inviting Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and cornerback Richard Sherman to enjoy turkey and all the fixings in front of the remaining Niners Faithful.

Some never forgave Sherman for biting down on a turkey leg, although it’s kind of silly to hold that grudge now.

Still, it was a painful memory and a sign of bad, bad things to come.
