49ers Week 15 Injury Report

San Francisco received more than its share of bad news after the win in New Orleans, losing both center Weston Richburg (knee) and nose tackle D.J. Jones (ankle) to season-ending injuries.

This puts tremendous strain on both the offensive and defensive lines, which have been forced to test their depth charts to a large extent already this season.

And the injury report remains long for Week 15, too:

49ers Week 15 Injury Report Table
Player Pos Injury Status
Dee Ford DE Hamstring Out
Dante Pettis WR Knee Probable
Richard Sherman DB Hamstring Out
Jaquiski Tartt SS Ribs Out
Jullian Taylor DT Elbow Out
K’Waun Williams DB Concussion Out

Backup center Ben Garland will step in for Richburg, while the 49ers will use a combination of defensive linemen Solomon Thomas, Sheldon Day and perhaps Kentavius Street to overcome Jones’ absence.

The Niners sorely missed Tartt’s presence in New Orleans, putting more pressure on second-year pro Marcell Harris to fill the void at strong safety.

Cornerbacks Ahkello Witherspoon and Emmanuel Moseley will be tasked with covering one of the best wide receivers in the game still, Julio Jones.

That’s one matchup San Francisco must be concerned with in this contest.
