Game Ball No. 1: Running Back Raheem Mostert

The 49ers backfield is clearly one of the most talented units on the team. The depth which has been amassed in the group has truly carried the team all season.

First it was Matt Breida with the big play to set the tone versus the Cleveland Browns, then Tevin Coleman with four touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers, followed by Jeff Wilson‘s game-winning touchdown reception versus the Arizona Cardinals. In the Week 13 contest, special teams ace Raheem Mostert would be called upon to shoulder the load, and he did just that.

Mostert had a career day racking up 154 total yards on 21 touches and one touchdown.

Mostert consistently beat the Ravens to the edge on stretch-zone plays and made several defenders miss after he stuck his foot in the ground. Early in the second quarter, Mostert broke off a 40-yard touchdown off right tackle behind the excellent blocking of right tackle Mike McGlinchey, tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Richie James.

The ground game has been the strength of the 49ers all year long, and head coach Kyle Shanahan relied on the team’s identity in a heavyweight contest against a Super Bowl-caliber opponent.
