Game Ball No. 3: Linebacker Fred Warner

Since losing defensive leader Kwon Alexander three weeks ago, middle linebacker Fred Warner has been playing like a man possessed. Warner followed up his first week on the Pro Football Focus Team of the Week with 11 total tackles, eight solo and two key pass breakups against the Ravens.

Warner’s athleticism was on full display early in the first quarter when he was able to run stride for stride, flip his hips without breaking his stride and make a diving pass deflection while in coverage against Ravens speedy rookie wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.

Later in the fourth quarter with the game on the line, Warner flashed his instincts and high football IQ on a crucial fourth-down stop. He diagnosed a play, remained patient and let Ravens star tight end Mark Andrews get into his route, and then pounced for another pivotal pass breakup to force a turnover on downs.

Warner is primed to make his first Pro Bowl if he continues to use his mental and physical abilities to make plays in bunches.
