Winner: 49ers Pass Defense

In some ways, the Niners did much better against Lamar Jackson than most of the opponents he has faced this season.

Especially defending against his passing efforts.

True, the rain and wind were factors. There isn’t any getting around that. But it’s still pretty exemplary San Francisco held Jackson to a stat line of 14-of-23 for 101 yards passing, just one pass touchdown, a forced and recovered fumble all for a passer rating of 86.3.

Remember, Jackson tossed a career-high five touchdowns last week in Baltimore’s 45-6 one-sided victory over the Los Angeles Rams. And he still leads the league with 25 touchdown passes.

The 49ers did have trouble getting to Jackson, of course, sacking him just once. His ability to extend plays was something San Francisco had issues with all game long.

But to limit Jackson to just over 100 yards is commendable, especially when one of his top targets, wide receiver Marquise Brown, was held to just one reception for a single yard.

Not bad at all.
