No. 1: Robbie Gould Nets the Game-Winning Field Goal

In an ideal world, the Niners force the Ravens to do something they haven’t encountered much this season: play from behind.

This would be much easier if the game was being played either at a neutral site or at Levi’s Stadium. Since it’s not, however, the prospects for San Francisco getting out to an early lead are all the more difficult.

The 49ers’ lone loss this season — Week 10 to the Seattle Seahawks — was the epitome of a back-and-forth game against playoff-level competition. Considering how closely both the Niners and Ravens are matched for this contest, one could easily predict another game coming down to the wire.

And that’s where kicker Robbie Gould comes in.

Gould has missed time with a quad injury, being relieved on the field by the rookie, Chase McLaughlin. Yet Gould was able to practice fully this week, and it’s looking good he’ll take the field in Week 13.

If the weather, San Francisco’s stout defense and a number of other factors and X-factors play their roles, the game could ultimately be decided by a field goal in the expiring seconds.

So, if the 49ers are in possession amid the rainy conditions in Baltimore, look for that last-second field goal to be the difference between 11-1 and 10-2.
