Winner: Safety Jimmie Ward

At one point during Sunday’s contest, safety Jimmie Ward had to exit the game with what appeared to be a foot injury.

Right away, fans began reacting about Ward’s lengthy injury history.

But Ward returned shortly thereafter, eventually finishing the game with an impressive seven tackles, a sack and one pass defended.

He might not be receiving the same attention given to other members of San Francisco’s defense, yet Ward’s presence has helped solidify what was previously one of the most questionable secondaries in the NFL entering this season.

Where Ward wins even more, however, is the fact he’s a free agent in 2019. While his injury history still works against him, hitting this contract year with performances like Sunday’s should bode well for his negotiations this upcoming offseason.
