Power ranking 49ers top 10 players halfway through 2019 season
By Peter Panacy
Two games might be something of a stretch for a player who only just started his tenure with the 49ers.
But for veteran wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, who only joined the Niners prior to their Week 8 win over the Carolina Panthers, the difference has been immeasurable.
Niner Noise’s Akshaj Dwivedula broke down specifically how Sanders has helped revamp Kyle Shanahan’s pass offense, which was previously viewed as one of the weaker aspects of what has been an otherwise dominant season. Prior to the trade, the 49ers’ leading wide receiver was the veteran, Marquise Goodwin, with a mere 181 yards.
Over just two games in San Francisco, Sanders already has 11 catches for 137 yards, plus a touchdown.
Sanders’ presence goes beyond just the stats. He’s an established playmaker, commanding respect from opposing defenses. Even if he’s not putting up the numbers, Sanders takes pressure off other receiving playmakers, such as tight end George Kittle, who has been a notable beneficiary of Sanders being on the field at the same time.
Way to work into the top 10 so quickly, Sanders.
