No. 3: The Seahawks Schedule Is Tough, Too

At this point, the 5-3 Los Angeles Rams are no longer vying to retain their hold on the NFC West in 2019. They’re going to be fighting it out for one of the two Wild Card seeds this season, and the NFC has no shortage of good teams, who won’t win their divisions, in the same picture heading into the second half of the season.

That leaves the 49ers and Seahawks as the only realistic division contenders, and the Niners already have the edge here in the loss column.

While San Francisco still has games against top-tier competition, including road matchups against the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens, Seattle’s remaining schedule isn’t exactly a cakewalk.

The Philadelphia Eagles have been an anomaly, at times this season. Given it’s a road game for Seattle, however, it’s reasonable to assume the Seahawks could lose. And they could easily lose at home against the red-hot Minnesota Vikings before back-to-back road games against the desperate Rams and Carolina Panthers, who are also vying for a playoff berth.

Oh, and the Niners twice.

While there are many factors at play here, the 49ers would have to lose twice to the Seahawks to put Seattle in serious contention to win the NFC West.

That’s a tall order.
