Top 5 takeaways from 49ers win vs. Redskins in Week 7
No. 4: Kwon Alexander continues to be one of the signings of the season
While it’s undeniable that the expertise of Dee Ford has been one of the triggers for the 49ers defense standing out this season, the signing of linebacker Kwon Alexander from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be even more important.
Alexander once again showed himself to be the sideline-to-sideline weapon the Niners desperately needed to complement fellow linebacker and coverage defender Fred Warner.
He looked perfectly suited to the wet conditions, launching into Redskins players who had difficulty maintaining their footing.
The most important play was his strip of Adrian Peterson, which stifled a possible Redskins scoring drive and allowed a reversal of fortunes.
There was some debate if signing someone off a torn ACL to so much money would be worth it, but the early returns are leaving no doubts.
He has to be considered one of the top free-agent signings of the season.
