No. 2: EDGE Dee Ford

The 49ers defensive line was more than impressive on Sunday, winning plenty of the four-man rushes against a questionable Rams offensive line.

While it would be easy to name any of the starting four within this group, EDGE Dee Ford stands out among the other former first-round NFL draftees.

Ford and rookie EDGE Nick Bosa were primarily responsible with the pressure, which led to the first sack of Jared Goff. Backup defensive end Ronald Blair got the credit for the sack, but Bosa and Ford were the reasons why Goff went down.

Goff was under pressure for much of the day, which speaks to the depth and talent of the 49ers defensive line.

Yet Ford made his impact felt in even bigger a way. He stripped Goff on the ball on one play, registering the sack and adding to what has been an impressive routine for Ford over the past year-plus: stripping quarterbacks of the ball.

While the Niners weren’t able to recover that fumble, they did appreciate Ford’s four-tackle, 1.5-sack effort in what was an exceptionally impressive performance.
