L, 19-13 vs. Colts

The Chiefs were stymied by what turned into quite the defensive effort from the Colts on Sunday Night Football.

Patrick Mahomes was surprisingly pedestrian. And while he had a few of those notable throws, which make any fan hit rewind on the television, Mahomes’ final line of 22-of-39 for 321 yards and a touchdown was far out of sync from what most likely would have predicted.

It didn’t help the Chiefs got almost nothing on the ground, and the pass protection for Mahomes wasn’t the best, either. He was hobbled as a result, which certainly cut into any chances he had to retake the lead late.

Meanwhile, Kansas City’s defense still has issues containing runs up the middle, as Marlon Mack took over the game on the ground late.

The Chiefs are still a top AFC contender, of course. But they drop a spot in our NFL power rankings following their first loss of the season.
