Stock down: WR Dante Pettis

Wide receiver Dante Pettis has seen a limited number of targets but he has made them count, particularly last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, as he caught the game-winning touchdown for San Francisco. That being said, the second-year wideout has been a clear disappointment over the first three weeks of the 2019 NFL season.

In the Niners’ three games, Pettis has a grand total of six targets. To put that in context, George Kittle is averaging seven targets a game. For a player many assumed would play a huge role in the offense this season, Pettis has not been a major factor for the 49ers so far in 2019.

Shanahan mentioned Pettis has dealt with a previously-undisclosed pectoral injury, which may explain a portion of his early-season struggles. Shanahan still has high hopes for Pettis following the team’s bye week, and perhaps he’ll match the 49ers’ expectations over the rest of the season.

However, as of right now, Pettis’ stock is not on the rise.
