Cleveland Browns. 12. team. 53. . 1-1. Previous:
W, 23-3 @ Jets
The Browns should have dominated a very shorthanded Jets team on Monday Night Football. But it took nearly three quarters for Cleveland to find its stride.
After an ugly Week 1 loss to start the season, the Browns have looked little more than a so-so team two weeks in.
Baker Mayfield got off to a sluggish start, with many of his passes missing off target and some clear miscommunication with his receiving targets. It wasn’t until his long touchdown pass to Odell Beckham Jr. in the third quarter when fans could finally start thinking the Mayfield-Beckham connection could be a big-time boost for Cleveland’s hopes this season.
The Browns will take their defensive effort against the Jets, sure. It does look good on the stat sheet, after all.
Still, this win wasn’t overly impressive, and Cleveland drops a couple of spots in our NFL power rankings as a result.
