As a player, I really like Jaquiski Tartt at safety. However, after two seasons of poor durability, this may be his last season to cement a spot in the secondary.

If he doesn’t, however, the 2020 draft crop appears to be very deep in the secondary, and Isaiah Simmons has been very impressive in a very impressive Clemson team, which is pushing for another shot at the national title.

While Clemson had a vaunted defensive line (which had three players taken in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft), Simmons was an important part of the Tigers defense with 88 tackles (including 9.0 for a loss), two sacks and an interception, which was returned .

Simmons continued that start to the season, and has 16 tackles already.

Simmons’ strength is he’s a hard hitter and a good tackler, attributes the 49ers want to bring to their defense.
